The ‘Ghost Tommy’ at Holy Trinity, Woodburn.

The moving sight of a ‘Ghost Tommy’ at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Woodburn, Carrickfergus.

The ‘Ghost Tommies’ are part of the There but not There campaign commemorating the end of World War One, and a number of these poignant sculptures have been placed in Ballymena, Larne and Carrickfergus by Mid and East Antrim Council in memory of all those who lost their lives in the conflict.

The council has kindly loaned the ‘Ghost Tommy’ to Holy Trinity as the Rev Dr Alan McCann was instrumental in raising awareness of the campaign with the council through the offices of Councillor Billy Ashe.

Several other ‘Ghost Tommies’ will be appearing in local schools, the library, churches and other public buildings to raise awareness of the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day 1918.
