St Cedma’s Parish Church in Larne has become the first in Ireland to offer an online 3D visual tour of the inside of the Church and all its fascinating features.

The 3D tour was gifted to the church by Paul Connolly from the Smart Video Ltd, Ballyclare, who recently produced a DVD on this history of St Cedma’s at the request of parishioner Patricia Beattie.

The Rev David Lockhart, rector of Larne and Inver with Glynn and Raloo, said it was Patricia’s passion for St Cedma’s and for local history that had inspired the concept of the 3D tour.

While in Larne making the video last summer, Paul had the church filmed in 3D and the tour can now be viewed on the church’s website (www.larne.connor.anglican.org)  or you can click HERE.

As well as showing the inside of St Cedma’s in 3D, viewers can click on information points highlighting some of the many historic features in the church, and introducing links for further information.

This is the first church in Ireland to have such a facility. David said: “I envisage a number of possible outcomes.  The first one would be to open up the possibility of enticing visitors to come and look around this beauty historic church ‘in the flesh.’  Secondly, it opens up an easy way for former parishioners who have moved away to rekindle memories of times spent with this worshipping community.”

The rector added: “We as a parish are very grateful for this gift and excited to be in the unique position of being the first church in Ireland to offer this type of visual tour.”
