The United Parish of Ballynure & Ballyeaston (Ballyclare) this week presented a cheque for £1,432.41 to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

The money was raised as a result of the generous giving of visitors to the United Parish’s 2018 Christmas Tree Festival.

Receiving the cheque was Catherine O’Hara, Northern Ireland Fundraising Co-ordinator with the Hospice.

Catherine said: “I am continually amazed by the generosity of people, and their creative ways to raise money. This gift will provide essential care for the many young patients, and their families, as they are supported in illness.”

Rector of Ballynure & Ballyeaston, the Rev Jonny Campbell-Smyth, said: “It is always our aim as a church family to be generous with the resources and gifts which God faithfully provides. We recognise his goodness and love towards us, and therefore we always ensure that whatever we receive is given back for his mission in our community.

“We all will be aware of families where illness has occurred, and so in some small way we pray that this small gift will be a blessing.”
