The Hub seeks Chaplaincy interns

Monday April 8th 2019

The Hub Chaplaincy at Queen’s University is currently recruiting for its intern team based at the Chaplaincy.

The Hub Belfast is a partnership between the Church of Ireland and Methodist Church in Ireland. It works to serve students, through ministry and mission, across all of the university and college campuses in the city of Belfast.

Each year the Chaplaincy is joined by a group of passionate interns with a desire to grow in their faith, discern God’s call on their life, and be released into their next phase of life and ministry.

Interns will have an opportunity to plant new ministries or invest in current ministries they have a heart for. They will be mentored by and work alongside each member of the Hub team to ensure they leave after their internship with an increased appreciation of and passion for the worship of God, Christian community and outreach into the world around us.

There are three key areas for the Interns.

  • Serving in Ministry

Energising student ministries across Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, City Centre and Queen’s Quarter, as well as helping the Chaplaincy to envision and plant new expressions of chaplaincy. The interns will bring their passion and creativity to a staff team that serves a growing church family in the Queen’s Quarter of the city, planning weekly worship, resourcing bible study groups and discipling kids and young people.

  • Living in Christian Community

Interns live in accommodation on Elmwood Avenue in Belfast provided by the Hub for 10 months. They eat together, pray together, study together and share life with one another.

  • Personal Development and Growth

The Chaplaincy team will work with interns to ensure that time is spent each week in bible study, ministry study and prayer. The Chaplaincy will also invest in developing and honing skills that are valuable in whatever path the interns choose to follow after their year.

As well as living with us in the Hub, interns receive a resident worker’s allowance, giving them the opportunity to get fully immersed in a full-time ministry context that incorporates a church family, a residential community, a cafe at the heart of a university campus, and student ministries across Belfast.
