The Jewel in the Mess, the latest book by the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, is now available on Kindle.
The book was launched at the Spectrum Centre in north Belfast last May, and was commended at the launch by the Rev Dr Heather Morris, General Secretary, Home Mission Department of the Methodist Church in Ireland, and Professor David Jones, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Education & Students at Queen’s University, Belfast.
The Jewel in the Mess is Bishop Alan’s third book, and was written during a sabbatical he took in the early part of 2018. In it Bishop Alan, who has been Bishop of Connor since June 2007, examines how his years of leadership in the church caused him to lose sight of the original awe that called him to his faith.
At the launch the Bishop, who is currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, said: “The Jewel in the Mess is Jesus. I have made many mistakes along the way, but he has never stopped loving me. I trust that when you read this you will find Jesus among its pages.”
The Jewel in the Mess is published by Columba Press and can be ordered on Kindle, from Columba Press on 353 (1) 687 4096; email sales@columba.ie or from The Book Well.
