Mossley Parish Bowling Club again held its ever popular Summer Bowls series and raised £1,400 for charity.
Invites were extended to members of bowling clubs from the local area, and everyone met up in Mossley Parish Centre. More than 30 bowlers took part each Wednesday evening during the summer months, and even some members of the Streetreach team gave indoor bowling a try in early July!
In previous years Summer Bowls have raised funds for McMillan Cancer Support, Epilepsy Research, Marie Curie, Chest Heart and Stroke, Diabetes UK, Friends of The Cancer Centre, and last year the bowlers supported the Renal Unit.
This year it was decided to donate all proceeds to two charities – Guide Dogs NI and Air Ambulance NI. A total of £1,400 was raised and on September 18 the Parish Centre was full as cheques were handed over to Grace Williams (Air Ambulance) and Diane Marks and Andrea Hope (Guide Dogs NI).
Sincere thanks to everyone who helped organise and facilitate the Summer Bowls in Mossley, and to all the bowlers who came along, enjoyed the fun and fellowship, and helped raise funds for Air Ambulance NI and Guide Dogs NI.
