Your chance to be a chorister for a day!

Friday October 4th 2019

Belfast Cathedral is hosting two fun, musical events for boys and girls aged 7-12, giving them the opportunity to become cathedral choristers for a day!

They will take place on Saturday October 12 and Saturday November 9.  The children will enjoy singing workshops with the cathedral’s new Director of Music, Matthew Owens, and other musicians. They will also learn about what it is to be a chorister, and something of the history of Belfast Cathedral.

At the end of the day, the ‘choristers for a day’ will perform for family and friends at a short service led by the Dean of Belfast, the Very Rev Stephen Forde.

Matthew Owens said: “This is a great opportunity for children from Belfast and beyond to experience singing in the magnificent space of Belfast Cathedral and for them to hear the mighty cathedral organ.

“Singing is fun and is good for you, and being in a choir is a great way to make new friends, so we look forward to welcoming the children and their families and friends to the cathedral on these days.”

The ‘Be a Chorister for a Day’ event is free of charge, but places are limited and demand is high, so please book your place by emailing BACFAD@belfastcathedral.org or by visiting www.belfastcathedral.org.
