The organisers of the New Horizon conference – a seven day Christian festival which takes place each summer on the Ulster University campus in Coleraine – have announced the cancellation of the 2020 event.
Board member Mark Miskimmin said: “This decision has not been made lightly. It is the first time in our history such a decision has had to be made but these are unprecedented times. We recognise and regret the impact this will have on the wider economy.
“On behalf of the Board, I would ask you to continue to pray as our community faces unprecedented upheaval. This crisis also presents an opportunity as Christ’s followers, to care for the weak, the vulnerable and the fearful. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
“As it has been in times of darkness before, the light of Christ in His community offers the world a hope centred on the unconditional love of God who calls us to imitate His Son in self-sacrifice and service of others. In doing so we will indeed embody the theme we had hoped to explore this summer – a healthy church / serving church, Christ’s body in action.”
