Magheragall centenarian Doreen McKee has become something of a social media celebrity since her local council shared her life story online. Watch Doreen’s VIDEO.

Earlier this year, we shared the news that Doreen had celebrated her 100th birthday on December 15 2020 on both the Connor website and in Connor Connections.

Her rector, the Rev Nicholas Dark, delivered flowers and a card on behalf of the parish, wishing Doreen a happy birthday from all her friends in church.

Nicholas explained that before lockdown, Doreen was a regular in church, and was a committed member of the Senior Citizens’ Club.

Doreen’s parents, John and Margaret Nettleship, brought Doreen to Magheragall Parish Church for baptism on Sunday February 27 1921, and Doreen has been a lifelong member of the Church of Ireland.

The story of Doreen’s life, told by her large family, has been recorded in a video shared by Lisburn and Castlereagh Council as part of its NI100 celebrations.
