Guidelines for using social media

Wednesday June 9th 2021

The Church of Ireland has issued a series of graphics to help those in the Church communicate through social media and avoid any risks that might arise.

Social media offers a wide range of opportunities for people to connect creatively and positively with others and share stories about Church life and the Christian faith as a whole.

The nature of social media, however, means that it is important to be aware of and manage the risks which can arise. The Church of Ireland guidance is provided to help members of the Church to use social media well, whether in organising an online service or ministry, or in everyday life.

The graphics are in our gallery below. The Church of Ireland website also offers guides and checklists for:

  • using social media (and other online media) responsibly
  • setting objectives for and organising parish social media
  • video-conferencing and photography
  • live-streaming and recording.
