Colleagues in Church House, Belfast, met in a socially-distanced manner on Friday July 16 to say thank you to Mrs Helen Conville, who is leaving Connor Diocese to take up a new job.

Helen has been a loyal member of Church House staff for the past 25 years, working in a variety of roles serving both the Diocese of Connor and the Diocese of Down and Dromore.

She first joined the staff as receptionist when the current building in Donegall Street opened in 1995, moving to third floor of the building to join the diocesan secretarial team 10 years later. In 2010, Helen took on the role of personal assistant to the diocesan accountant, and following staff restructuring, moved to reception where she has worked on a part-time basis since 2016.

Helen is taking up a post as receptionist in The Rabbit Hotel and Spa in Templepatrick.

“I have always felt it a privilege to work for the Church of Ireland in Church House,” Helen said. “I have made some very good friends over the years. I started in reception, and now I have come full circle, I felt it was time to look for something different.”

At the thank you gathering on Friday morning, Helen was presented with gifts from her colleagues by the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev George Davison, and Bishop’s PA Lorraine Ogilby.

Paying tribute to Helen for her many years’ service, Bishop George said: “Many of us here today have never known Church House without you! It’s hard to think of you moving on and not seeing you behind the desk when we come into the building. We are grateful for all your service over the years and wish you every happiness in your new job.”

We wish Helen and her family every blessing for the future.
