Many congratulations to Magheragall parishioner Barbara Walker, who celebrated her 100th birthday on August 6.
Barbara received many congratulatory messages, with cards from Her Majesty The Queen; The Lord Lieutenant of Belfast; the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev George Davison; the rector of Magheragall, the Rev Nicholas Dark; and from many friends within the parish.
Observing Covid-19 guidelines, family members called with Barbara in the days around her birthday to add their special greetings, and Barbara welcomed a visit from her rector on August 10.
One of three siblings, Barbara was born in Finchley, London. She married Gerald in September 1945. The couple moved to Lisburn in March 2009 and shortly afterwards joined Magheragall Parish Church. Gerald sadly passed away in July 2013, but Barbara has continued to enjoy the support of the parish as she keeps a positive view of life.
She remains committed to the work of the church and enjoys being able to read the order of service each week and occasionally watch the recorded service online.
Her son Stephen said Barbara thanks everyone for all their kind words and greetings. “They mean a lot to her and have created a host of new memories which she will cherish,” Stephen said.
