St Nicholas’ Parish Church, Carrickfergus, hosted a Service of Ordination of Priests for Connor Diocese on Sunday September 12.
Three priests were ordained by the Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev George Davison. They were the Rev Nathan Ervine who was ordained for the curacy of the Parish of Carrickfergus; the Rev Brendan O’Loan who will serve in the Ordained Local Ministry in the Parish of Jordanstown; and the Rev Janet Spence who will serve in the Ordained Local Ministry for the Parish of St Stephen and St Luke and St Michael, Belfast.
The preacher at the service was the Rev Canon James Carson, rector of the Parish of St Stephen and St Luke and St Michael, Belfast.
Nathan served his deacon intern year in Magheragall Parish Church.
Three others who served their deacon intern year in Connor Diocese have also been ordained priests in recent days – two in Diocese of Derry and Raphoe. The Rev Andrea Cotter, who was deacon intern in the Parish of Skerry, Rathcavan and Newtowncrommelin, moves to All Saints’ Parish, Clooney, as curate assistant, and the Rev Alan McCracken, who was deacon intern in the United Parish of Ballynure and Ballyeaston, is now curate assistant in the Moville Group of Parishes.
The Rev Sarah Parkinson, who served her curacy in Derryvolgie Parish, was ordained priest at a service in St Mark’s Parish Church, Armagh.
