Teenager Rebekah Devlin, a parishioner of All Saints’, Belfast, has made it through to the semi-finals of the prestigious 2021 BBC Songs of Praise and Radio 2 ‘Young Chorister of the Year’ competition.
Rebekah, 16, a pupil at Strathearn School, is the only singer from Northern Ireland to have reached the national semi-finals, winning her place in the girls’ semi-final after competing against hundreds of entrants from across the UK. She is one of five girls seeking to secure a place in the national final.
Rebekah sings regularly with her church, and is a member of the Belfast Philharmonic Youth Chamber Choir, the National Youth Choir of Northern Ireland and the Belfast School of Performing Arts. She also sings with her school’s Chamber Choir.
The Songs of Praise girls’ semi-final, scheduled to take place in Salisbury Cathedral and hosted by Aled Jones, will be broadcast on BBC1 television and on Radio 2, on Sunday November 21.
