A small team from Templepatrick Parish will this summer travel to the Indian Christian Mission Centre in Salem to run holiday clubs for the children.
The team, led by the rector of Templepatrick and Donegore, the Rev Jeremy Mould, leaves for India on Monday July 11, arriving at the Promised Land Orphanage after a six-hour drive the following day.
During a busy two weeks, team members will run Bible clubs in a number of different places, and on the Sunday they will take children’s services at Omega Church in Salem and St Patrick’s Church.
Among other things, they will attend a traditional assembly at St Basil’s School in Salem and meet leprosy sufferers at the House of Peace.
The Templepatrick team, made up of Jeremy, Rory and Josh, Jeremy’s son Matthew and his friend Phil, and Nicole from Mossley Parish, is going with an Exodus Team of nine young people.
Jeremy is currently fundraising to buy all the craft and sports equipment needed during this ministry trip, and the team will be leaving behind all that they take. Jeremy would also like to leave the Indian Christian Mission Centre some funds so the centre can continue to buy sports equipment during the year for the 300 children in the orphanage.
A fundraising Afternoon Tea will be held on Saturday June 3 in St Patrick’s Parish Hall from 3-5pm to which you are warmly invited, and Jeremy has set up a JustGiving page for anyone wishing to make a donation to provide equipment for the orphanage in Salem.
