Members of Connor’s Streetreach 2023 team were commissioned on Sunday June 18 during an engaging and joyful service held in St John the Baptist Parish Church, Ballyrashane.
As this year’s Streetreach will run in partnership with three parishes, all were represented during the Commissioning Service which was co-ordinated and led by the Rev Amanda Adams, with participation from the Rev Patrick Barton and Alice McAlary.
Jonny Diamond, youth worker from the Grouped Parishes of Ballyrashane & Kildollagh, led a band who facilitated the engaging worship during the service.
The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev George Davison, commissioned the team and reflected on how, during Streetreach, the young people and leaders should remember their dependence upon God and expect God to work through them.
Christina Baillie, Diocesan Youth Officer, said: “It was such an encouraging evening and a delight to gather with members of various parishes across the diocese to support the Streetreach team.
“Bishop George’s talk pointed us to rely on God in all that comes through the few days of Streetreach. It was great to see how, as we focused our attention on God, our expectation of all that he will do through Streetreach increased!
“A huge thanks to all who were involved in the service and for everyone who came along.”
The evening ended with a visit from an ice cream van to the church grounds – enjoyed by all!
In attendance were team members and supporters from:
