The Rev Canon Kevin Graham, rector of St Bartholomew’s in Stranmillis, was recently appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) for the County Borough of Belfast.
The appointment followed his nomination to serve as a DL by the Lord Lieutenant of Belfast, Dame Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle DBE DStJ DDL (Hon QUB), to His Majesty The King.
Canon Graham had worked closely with the Lord Lieutenant and the Belfast Lieutenancy team over the last number of years. As a Deputy Lieutenant he may be called upon to represent the Lord Lieutenant, who is His Majesty’s representative for the County Borough of Belfast, on such occasions as royal visits, citizenship ceremonies and honours presentations.
Canon Graham said of the appointment: “I am thrilled to be a part of the Belfast Lieutenancy team and very much look forward to serving His Majesty and the Lord Lieutenant in this role.
“I am most grateful for the trust the Lord Lieutenant has in my ability to fulfil this role and feel honoured to serve the County Borough of Belfast in an additional way alongside my ministry in the city. I look forward to the adventures that await in my new role as a Deputy Lieutenant.”
