Kilbride Parish ladies group enjoyed a recent visit from Sandra Weir, a talented and experienced quilter from Cookstown.
Sandra was accompanied by her husband Derek. She brought with her a selection of her many quilts and talked about what inspired each one.
The larger quilts were set up on display stands around the Parish Hall prior to the start of the meeting.
Sandra is a doctor working as a community paediatrician and is deeply involved in Christian witness in her church. All her quilts are inspired in one way or another by Christian values and verses of scripture.
Sandra’s attention to detail in all of her quilts is quite phenomenal – each one has a gospel message and she spoke with a passion about each artwork on display.
Two of the ladies from the parish also brought along some of their craftwork to be viewed. Hazel McDonald had some of her wonderful quilts on display and Eleanor Graham brought many of the beautiful bags she has made in the past few years.
