The young members of the Abaana New Life Choir will take part in the annual Walk of Witness in Lisburn before giving two concerts in Christ Church Cathedral over the weekend.
The Walk of Witness and the concerts are part of four days of the Cathedral’s ‘Big Church Serve’ which also features activities for families in the city on Friday and Saturday, and at Largymore Primary School on the Hillhall Hall Road on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Good Friday Walk of Witness on March 29 gets underway at Café Nero at 12.30pm. The Cross will be carried to Market Square, where the Dean of Connor, the Very Rev Sam Wright will lead a welcome and prayers.
The Abaana New Life Choir, currently touring the UK and Ireland from Uganda, will open with Amazing Grace.
There will be readings by the Rev David Bruce, the Rev Gareth Campbell and the Rev Lee Boal, and a talk by Abaana Choir Director Sarah.
Prayers will be led by members of the City Centre Ministers Fellowship and the Abaana Choir will sing Oh Lord you are Beautiful.
As part of the Big Church Serve, the Cathedral will be open on Good Friday afternoon for family Easter activities with the Grace Cafe also open.
On Easter Saturday in Lisburn Square, there will be Easter Crafts and Planting ‘Seeds of Hope,’ face painting, God’s Handiwork Puppets, a football cage and W5 Science and Fun from 11am-1pm.
There will be free Taylor’s ice cream for children who bring their completed activities cards.
The Abaana Choir concerts take place on Good Friday ar 7.30pm and on Easter Saturday at 2pm. Tickets are free however booking is essential on www.lisburncathedral.org.
On Easter Sunday, there will be an Easter Morning Dawn Service at 6.30am at Wallace Park bandstand.
