The late Rev Canon Walter Lewis.
It is with sadness that we record the death of the Rev Canon Walter Lewis who passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 5 in Bohill Nursing Home, Coleraine, aged 79.
Walter served his entire ministry in Connor Diocese. He was ordained a deacon in 1971 and a priest the following year. He was curate in Whiterock, Belfast, from 1971 to 1973, and St Mark’s, Ballysillan, from 1973 to 1982; then Bishop’s curate in St Andrew’s, Glencairn, from 1982 until 1984.
In 1984, Walter became rector of St Thomas’, Belfast, where he served for 27 years until his retirement. He was a Canon of Belfast Cathedral from 1997-2012.
Sympathy is extended to Walter’s wife Evelyn, daughter Talitha, son Christian and the wider family circle.
