Celebration cake featuring the Rev John McClure and his wife Margo, who sings in the Kilbride Parish Choir.
Parishioners in Kilbride held a special celebration on Sunday August 31 to mark the Rev John McClure’s two years as rector-in-charge.
John agreed to look after Kilbride Parish Church following the retirement of the Rev Canon David Humphries, and by way of celebrating John’s ministry in Kilbride, a special cake was presented to him and his wife Margo at the beginning of the Sunday morning service.
John and Margo were very pleased to do the ceremonial cutting of the cake before it was taken and cut into slices for distribution to everyone as they enjoyed refreshments in the Parish Hall immediately after the service.
As well as John’s ministry in St Bride’s, the church has been blessed with having Margo and their daughter Rachel as valued members of the parish choir.
The cake, decorated with likeness of John and Margo, was baked by Beaver Scout leader Kathryn Edwards, who clearly has a talent for capturing likenesses in edible format!
