The Bishop of Connor and members of Connor Council of Mission had the joy of meeting Alec Deane from North Argentina along with SAMS (South American Mission Society) Ireland Mission Director, the Rev Geoff Hamilton, on Wednesday October 8.

Joining Bishop George Davison were Jill Lester, the Rev Stephen McElhinney and Archdeacon Paul Dundas.

The meeting was part of the Diocese of Connor’s discerning process as it looks at a diocesan partnership.

Archdeacon Dundas, chair of Connor Council for Mission, said: “We heard from Alec who works in the Chaco region of Argentina providing agricultural training for the community and schools with the Wichi people.

“Alec is someone with a deep Christian faith which flows through his sharing of the stories of transformation in lives and in a community. The group heard of the continuing development of theological training in the diocese and the equipping of the local church with a new resource, Abundant Life.”

The Rev Peter Jones, rector of Mossley Parish, is chair of SAMS Ireland. Peter will travel to North Argentina in November to continue to nurture the potential global missional partnership working with the Council for Mission and Bishop George and a potential Lent project in 2026 for the diocese.
