‘Healing Words,’ a new book by Bro David Jardine, is made up of articles and letters David has written over more than five decades in both the ministry of prayer and the ministry of healing.

David is founder of Divine Healing Ministries, and a former Canon of St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast. He studied languages at Queen’s University, Belfast and after a calling to ordination and training in Dublin, was ordained a deacon in 1967 and a priest a year later. His first parish was St Patrick’s, Ballymacarrett.

In 1970, David became assistant Church of Ireland Chaplain at Queen’s, and in 1973 he joined the Society of St Francis, a religious community in the Anglican Church.

David spent 10 years, from 1975-1985, as Church of Ireland chaplain in Crumlin Road Prison and founded the inter-denominational Divine Healing Ministries in 1993.

Speaking ahead of the launch of ‘Healing Words, David said: “I have been deeply involved in the ministry of prayer and the ministry of healing for more than 50 years. After joining the Society of St Francis in 1975, I went into a way of life which included three hours of prayer and worship every day.

“Just before that, in 1972, I was introduced to the ministry of divine healing by the Rev Cecil Kerr, who founded the Christian Renewal Centre in Rostrevor.

“My book is 150 pages and is a practical book. It tells people how to pray, types of things we should include in prayer and how to do it.”

David said the ministry of healing section also gives practical advice for those receiving prayer and for those praying for other people. “This is a book that will help people if they want to learn to pray,” he said.

“Today, there is a great role for the ministry of divine healing. This book talks about healing in body, mind and spirit. It tells us how to be strong in the midst of difficulties.”

In a foreword to ‘Healing Words,’ The Rev Jim Rea, a former Minister in the Methodist Church of Ireland, writes: “This book draws on a lifetime of experience in prayer, healing, and forgiveness. It is written in an easy-read style but is nevertheless profound. It addresses numerous life issues with wisdom and insight. David shares teachings that have significantly awakened my understanding of the power of prayer. All of which is centred on Jesus Christ.”

The official launch of ‘Healing Words’ will take place on December 1 at 7.30pm in St Anne’s Cathedral.

‘Healing Words’ is on now sale from The Book Well, Belmont Road, east Belfast; Faith Mission bookshops or directly from Divine Healing Ministries at £5 +p&p. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to Divine Healing Ministries.
