The Parish of Ramoan and Culfeightrin has said farewell to the Rev Canon David Ferguson and his wife Margaret following David’s retirement after almost 15 years of ministry in the parish.
David’s final service at the end of September saw a packed church at St James, Ballycastle – it was standing room only!
Surrounded by many of his family and friends, David’s last Sunday was one which paid tribute to all that he achieved during his time in Ramoan and Culfeightrin, including the refurbishment of church buildings and the creation of a Parish Centre which has become a focal point for the church and the wider community.
Among those taking part in the service were young people whom David had baptised in his early days in Ballycastle. His personal ministry was valued by all those with whom he spent time whether of the parish or not and he and Margaret will be sorely missed by many in the local area.
After the service, a lunch was enjoyed in the Parish Centre by more than 200 people, bringing together so many whose lives had been touched by David and Margaret over the years.
