Agherton Parish Church joyfully marked a significant moment in its parish life on Sunday November 30, with the commissioning of Andi Regan-Murphy and Dylan Sheppard as Parish Readers.

The service was led by the rector, the Rev Malcolm Ferry, along with the Rev Canon Amanda Adams, Warden of Readers, who commissioned both candidates and presented them with their licences on behalf of the Bishop of Connor. Canon Adams affirmed their calling to ministry and encouraged them as they step into this new chapter of service within the parish.

Music played a central role in the service. Both Andi and Dylan, who are members of the parish choir, chose hymns that reflected their personal faith journeys. Andi selected Safe in the Shadow, a hymn rooted in deep faith and dependence on God, while Dylan chose the much-loved The Lord’s My Shepherd, an enduring reminder of God’s guidance and care.

The church choir added their own tribute by singing a special blessing anthem, The Lord Bless You and Keep You, by Alan Bullard. This added a moment of gentle reflection to the occasion and was appreciated by all present.
