RTÉ broadcast service recording bay.
RTÉ has commissioned a new model for producing televised broadcast services, meaning they will now be recorded on-site in a parish setting rather than in the RTÉ studio in Dublin.
One recording (generally live) will go out in the morning at 11am and a second service, involving a guest parish, will be recorded that afternoon for a future morning broadcast.
RTÉ is employing an independent production company, Scratch Films, and the Church of Ireland Press Office is seeking expressions of interest from parishes that might be interested in taking part in a broadcast morning service.
How the new broadcast service model works
The recording may take place in your own parish, or you may be invited to bring a congregation with a choir or a worship band to another parish if it has better facilities (such as broadband access) for broadcast purposes. For live broadcast, a parish needs to have an upload speed of about 20+ MB, but if you have superfast fibre broadband, the upload speed is probably already much higher than this.
The producers will always be looking for good quality music and preaching and are also keen to record interviews that help to share stories of faith from people taking part. These may form part of the programme and/or be shared separately on the RTÉ Player.
Parishes – and Cathedrals – from any part of the island are welcome to participate, and we would like to arrange 6-8 recordings over the next 12 months. If this would be of interest, please get in touch with Janet Maxwell (Head of Synod Services and Communications) at janet.maxwell@rcbcoi.org.
