Mossley Ramblers enjoying the scenery on Rathlin Island.
A group of more than 40 from Mossley Parish made the journey to Rathlin Island on Saturday June 20 – returning as a parish for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The little café that was a regular fixture for the parishioners of Mossley in previous years is no longer open, but alternative locations were sought so that the tradition of having a cooked breakfast could continue.

Stopping into St Thomas’s Parish Church, Rathlin.
The journey from Ballycastle to Rathlin took approximately 40 minutes. On arriving, the eager ramblers soon got down to business, no doubt encouraged by the brilliant weather. After his experiences in previous years, the rector, the Rev Peter Jones, was given some sun cream!
Peter said: “On Rathlin there are several beautiful walks which showcase the incredible scenery and wildlife. There really are routes for all ages and abilities. Some of our ramblers headed off in search of the famous Rathlin puffins while others visited one of the lighthouses and saw some of the resident seals.

The Mossley Ramblers enjoyed sunshine during their visit to scenic Rathlin Island.
“For many of our ramblers, the day concluded with another Mossley tradition – getting fish and chips in Ballycastle. It was great to see so many people embark on the trip this year and a good time was had by everyone.”
Mossley Parish expressed thanks to Alan Bowes for organising the outing and parishioners are very much looking forward to next year.
