Cathedral hosts special events for Belfast’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is taking place in Belfast from August 2-9, and Belfast Cathedral is opening for longer each day and hosting special events for the period of the festival.

There will be a series of FREE lunchtime recitals featuring musicians associated with the Cathedral, beginning this Saturday August 2 with an organ recital at 1.10pm by Jack Wilson Master of Music at St Anne’s.

Other recitals will be by Clarinet trio Gillian McCutcheon, Cabhan Keag and Paul Berry on Monday August 3 at 12.30pm; Celtic hymn tunes from the Cathedral Organists on Wednesday August 5 at 12.30pm; and violinist Julie Bell on Thursday August 6 at 12.30pm.

Opening hours for the week of the Fleadh are Monday and Tuesday 10.30am-6pm; Wednesday to Saturday 10.30am-8pm, and during these hours the Cathedral will be serving coffee and treats in its pop-up coffee shop

Other special events at St Anne’s include a ‘Celebrating Bunting’ talk with Harp Recital and an Irish Trad Music School each afternoon.
