A new sensory trail has been established within the Quiet Garden at St Patrick’s Parish Church, Ballymoney.
Following the success of the garden’s original trail, volunteers have developed a second route designed especially with children in mind. The sensory trail encourages young visitors to engage with the natural world through sight, sound, touch and smell, helping them discover the many wonders of the garden in a fun and interactive way.
Children can follow the trail while enjoying colourful flowers, interesting textures, gentle sounds of nature and seasonal scents throughout the garden. The trail aims to promote outdoor learning, mindfulness and an appreciation of the natural environment.
The Quiet Garden has become a valued community space, offering a peaceful setting for people of all ages to relax and enjoy nature. The new sensory trail provides an additional opportunity for families, schools, church groups and community organisations to make use of this beautiful resource.
Visitors are warmly welcome to come along and experience the trail for themselves and discover how nature can stimulate the senses while providing moments of calm, curiosity and enjoyment.
For further information about the Quiet Garden and its activities, visitors are encouraged to contact St Patrick’s Church, Ballymoney.
“We hope the sensory trail will encourage children and families to spend time outdoors, explore the garden together and enjoy all that nature has to offer,” said Parish Reader Kasala McCurdy, who along with her husband William, manages Ballymoney’s Quiet Garden.
