A fab weekend at Connor Takes the Castle

Monday October 5th 2026

All set for an afternoon of challenges and games in the grounds of Castlewellan Castle at the annual Connor Takes the Castle youth weekend.

More than 100 young people and their leaders from parishes across Connor Diocese had a fantastic time at the annual Connor Takes the Castle weekend in Castlewellan which took place from October 2-4. CHECK OUT OUR GALLERY BELOW.

Hannah Craig, Youth Worker at Railway Street Presbyterian Church, Lisburn, joined the young people to teach from the Bible, and as well as the talks and subsequent discussions, there was the fun of sleeping in a Castle, making new friends from other parishes, and taking part in some epic games and adventures. The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev George Davison, popped in to say hello on the Sunday morning.

For those unable to stay overnight, there was the chance to join activities for the Saturday only.

And what a day that was – the sun shone and temperatures were close to 20 degrees, making it perfect weather for a range of outdoor activities run by Mobile Team Adventure. These included archery, laser tag, challenges involving a team ski (without any snow!) and a golf ball. There were also team games on the sports field above the castle.

We hope our photo gallery shows just how much fun was had by all – including the leaders.

Well done to Diocesan Youth Officer David Armstrong and Connor Youth Council for organising such a great weekend.
