H3O – 100 days of prayer to reflect on historic anniversaries

Sunday December 27th 2015

Praying-Hands-over-BibleEvangelical Alliance Northern Ireland, 24/7 Prayer Ireland and Summer Madness are coordinating H3O – 100 days or prayer to reflect on the anniversaries of 2016.

They say: “H3O is a movement of prophetic prayer providing the oxygen of healing of the past, honour in the present and hope for the future.”

A statement on this movement reads: “Throughout the life of our society, significant cultural moments arise where people of faith are called to step forward and lead the way. The anniversaries of 2016 are such moments.

“It is a time for the church to lead society in response to the historic events that have shaped the story of this land. By prayerfully reflecting on the centenaries of the Easter Rising and the Somme, we hope to see Christians grasp this unique pastoral and prophetic opportunity to engage in our nation’s destiny, contribute to reconciliation and share stories of hope.”

From February 6 to May 15 2016, a network of individuals, organisations and churches will come together over 100 days of continuous prayer for our nation.

Evangelical Alliance Northern Ireland, 24/7 Prayer Ireland and Summer Madness will partner with others to organise churches across Northern Ireland to cover every minute of the 100 days in prayer.

“As we journey through the Liturgical Church Calendar of Lent and Pentecost, we want to encourage the church to unite together in prayer. During this time, we invite as many churches as possible to sign up for at least one day of 24 hour prayer. This would involve hosting a prayer room in your church where members can sign up (as individuals or small groups) for one hour slots. We will provide some creative guides and resources to help inform prayers throughout this season, but churches are free to dream up their own prayer rooms.”

The statement continues: “H3O will be a prayer driven movement with a series of events throughout the 100 days and a variety of resources to allow individuals to personally engage with the wider movement. These resources will include an app, a website and a printed publication – all designed to inspire healing, honour and hope as we reflect on the 2016 anniversaries.”
