Belfast Cathedral is currently recruiting choristers, with opportunities for boys aged 7-12 and girls aged 11-18. No previous experience is necessary, although a love of singing is key.
Cathedral choristers will receive a free first-class musical education; sing to a wide-ranging audience, which includes television and radio broadcasts; take part in tours in the UK and abroad; and receive a token payment each year.
There are also opportunities to learn to play the organ and piano at discounted rates; develop confidence and lifelong skills such as teamwork and time management; and the chance to form long-lasting friendships.
Girl choristers will rehearse on Tuesdays from 5-6pm and Wednesdays from 4-6.30pm in term-time. Boys will rehearse on Tuesdays from 4-5pm and Thursdays from 4-6.30pm.
During term-time and at major festivals like Christmas and Easter, Choristers will sing at the 11am Sunday Choral Eucharist (girls first and third Sundays; boys second and fourth Sundays); 3.30pm Sunday Evensong (girls third Sunday and boys second Sunday) while girls will sing Choral Evensong at 5.30pm each Wednesday and boys at the same time each Thursday.
