Respond Training are facilitating a 3 day course designed to provide members of Crisis Support Teams with a structured programme for responding to the needs of their community in the aftermath of incidents in accordance with international standards.

This course is accredited and certified by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF – www.icisf.org) and is being led by ICISF Approved Instructors Dr Marion Gibson and Lt Col Oliver Barbour (retd).

This 3 day course will include theoretical approaches to post-traumatic stress and practical training for ‘first responders’ and combines ALL of the content of ICISF’s Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention courses.

Crisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; rather, it is a specialised acute emergency mental health intervention which requires specialised training. Crisis intervention is sometimes called ‘psycho-social first aid’. Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum, this course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services for both the individual and for groups. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically demobilisations, defusings and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD).

This course is designed for anyone in the fields of Business & Industry Crisis Intervention, Disaster Response, Education, Emergency Services, Employee Assistance, Healthcare, Mental Health, Military, Spiritual Care and Traumatic Stress Support.

No previous qualifications or experience in this subject are required but would be an advantage.

The 3 day combined course will cost £395 to include course fees, manuals, handouts, attendance certificates and full catering. (2 day option of ‘Assisting Individuals’ only, is available on 06 and 07 November at a cost of £295).
