Carnmoney takes part in Heritage Open Days

Friday September 7th 2007

The Church of the Holy Evangelists, Carnmoney Parish. The Church of the Holy Evangelists, Carnmoney Parish, is one of a number of churches in Connor Diocese open to the public over the weekend of September 8 and 9.

The church will be open from 2-4pm and there will also be a children’s art competition for children under 11.

This was a very popular event last year and Carnmoney parish is anticipating a good response again.  The grave yard around the church dates back to the 1500s and so is of great interest to the public.  The church itself and the grounds have many interesting features.

Other Connor parishes opening their doors as part of European Heritage Open Days include Ballinderry Middle Church; Gartree Parish Church, Cushendun Old Church, St John’s, Donegore and Craigs Parish Church.

Full listings of buildings in Northern Ireland open over the weekend are available on www.ehsni.gov.uk/other-index/events/ehd.htm.
