St Patrick topic of NIMMA annual conference

Tuesday February 16th 2010

The Rev Grace Clunie is guest speaker at the NIMMA conference. The 35th annual conference of the Northern Ireland Mixed Marriage Association takes place in the Parish Church of St George in Belfast’s High Street on Saturday March 6.

Guest speaker is the Director of Celtic Spirituality at Armagh Cathedral, the Rev Grace Clunie, former rector of St Nicholas, Lisburn Road, Belfast. Grace will be telling the story of St Patrick – the Saint for all on this island.

It is particularly appropriate as the theme of conference this year is shared spirituality and, just days before the Saint’s day, the conference will acknowledge the role of St Patrick in inspiring shared spirituality right across this island.

It has been a busy year for NIMMA, with enquiries about mixed marriage and baptism on the increase. The Association’s main role has been to share the experience and knowledge it has garnered over the years with those in need of information and advice. It remains pivotal and that sense of sharing just as vibrant as in the early days of the 1970s.

NIMMAIt is therefore apt that the conference will also be looking at the wider Mixed Marriage picture through a talk by William Oddling-Smee who has vast experience of the international scene.

The conference begins at 10.30am and is open to all. If you would like to attend, please contact NIMMA before Tuesday March 2, e-mail: nimma@nireland.com or telephone 028 9023 5444.
