Dan retires from Select Vestry in Ballintoy after 65 years

After an amazing 65 years of valuable and faithful service on the Select Vestry of Ballintoy Parish, Mr Dan Craig has decided to call it a day.

Now in his 93rd year, Dan has served with 13 different rectors and has been rector's and people's churchwarden numerous times over the years.

The scenic Ballintoy Parish Church.He continues to be very active in serving his parish church in many practical ways and is always at hand to get things done quickly and quietly without fuss.

He is an evergreen and ever present welcoming face in the church porch Sunday by Sunday, a great advertisement for Christianity.

At a special function to mark his retirement from the select vestry, the Rev Patrick Barton, rector of Ballintoy, told Dan: "Dan, we offer you our sincere appreciation and admiration. May you enjoy a long and fruitful retirement, and don’t be surprised if we need to draw upon your vast wealth of knowledge of Ballintoy Parish from time to time."

The service was attended by Dan’s family and friends, and at it Dan was presented with ‘A History of the Church of Ireland’ – history being one of his many hobbies.
