Wednesday October 13th 2010

The sign outside Yei Vocational Training College.Connor’s link diocese of Yei in Southern Sudan is looking for a new principal for the very successful Vocational Training College.

The current Principal, Canon John Kanyikwa, retires at the end of the year and the College wishes to recruit a replacement who can lead the College through the next few years.

The Principal leads a team of skilled instructors and administrative staff, providing high quality training for up to 200 students per year.  Yei Vocational Training College is an initiative of the Episcopal Church of Sudan Diocese of Yei. It has run successfully for seven years and offers courses in building, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanics and driving.  It has some excellent facilities but there is potential to develop further.

A carpentry student at work in the Yei VTC.A committed Christian, the new Principal will be a graduate with good experience of leading an institution and of establishing productive contacts at senior levels of Government and donor organisations. The College was funded in 2009 and 2010 through the Sudan Recovery Fund and the new Principal will need to seek more funding both for the running of and expansion of the College.

Members of teams from Connor Diocese who visited Yei in January and July this year saw the VTC at work, and witnessed the vital role it is playing in the recovery of post conflict Southern Sudan.
