Celebrations as St Andrew’s, Glencairn, marks 40 years

Many former parishioners returned to St Andrew's for morning worship to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the church.St Andrew’s, Glencairn, celebrated a milestone on November 28 when it marked its 40th anniversary.

The foundation stone of the church was laid in1970 by The Right Reverend Arthur Butler, Bishop of Connor, and the Reverend James Davison, President of the Methodist Church in Ireland.

A large number of former parishioners attended Morning Worship and were entertained to a light lunch afterwards by the ladies of the parish. Music was by Awakening, and the Reverend Jim Rea, former President of the Methodist Church and recently retired Minister of Shankill Methodist, was the preacher. Awakening made a welcome return visit after a gap of six years.
 
Ena Gillespie presented founder member and organist Ella Horner with flowers on behalf of the church during the 40th anniversary celebrationsDuring the service, Mrs Ella Horner, founder member and organist for 40 years, was presented with a bunch of flowers by Mrs Ena Gillespie, also a founder member, on behalf of the Church.
