The BBC will air a new dramatisation of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ in the week leading up to Christmas.
Four half-hour episodes of The Nativity will be broadcast on BBC1 in prime time slots – at 7pm each evening from Monday December 20 until Thursday December 23 – and are expected to attract audiences of several million.
Publicity for the show states: “The production seeks to follow the biblical narrative and to highlight Jesus’ identity as God’s Son coming to earth in fulfilment of God’s promise.”
It is anticipated the programmes and the surrounding media coverage should provide great opportunities for discussion about the reality and relevance of Jesus Christ.
