Bishop Chama accepts a Connor plate from Archdeacon Stephen McBride. The Bishop of Northern Zambia, the Rt Rev Albert Chama, spent some time in Connor Diocese relaxing after the 18th Primates' Meeting of the Anglican Communion which took place in Emmaus Retreat and Conference Centre, Swords, Co Dublin, at the end of January.

He was a guest of the Bishop of Connor’s Commissary, the Ven Dr Stephen McBride, Vicar of Antrim and Archdeacon of Connor. The two have been friends for some time as Antrim Parish has a link with Kitwe in Northern Zambia, and Archdeacon McBride visited Zambia in June 2008.

During his stay, Bishop Chama took Holy Communion in St George’s Parish, Belfast. The parish also has a link with Kitwe, and the rector of St George’s, the Rev Brian Stewart, was part of the team which visited Kitwe in 2008.

The Bishop was the speaker at a special Zambia Focus Afternoon organised by CMS Ireland on Thursday February 3. At this, Bishop Chama shared his thoughts on the Church in Zambia and provided an update on the work of the Diocese.

Bishop Chama also had time to call in to Church of Ireland House, where the Archdeacon of Connor presented him with the gift of a Diocese of Connor plate.
