CMSI turns focus on Democratic Republic of Congo

Wednesday February 9th 2011

Life in the DR Congo.CMS Ireland is hosting a focus event on North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday February 22.

Special guest is Bishop Ise-soma Muhindo, the newly consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of North Kivu.

Although Bishop Ise-soma and North Kivu in DR Congo are unrelated to CMSI’s partnerships in Sudan, there is a link in that the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) still operates out of Eastern DR Congo. The latest incursion of the LRA was on December 22 2010 when they attacked, killing and injuring people in Maridi Diocese, Southern Sudan. The Diocese of Down and Dromore has an active link with Maridi.

This focus event will be a unique opportunity to hear Bishop Iso-soma share his plans for the Church and provide an update on the work of the Diocese of North Kivu.

It will be an informal afternoon, beginning at 12.30pm and ending at 2.30pm, in CMS Ireland’s Belfast Office at 33 Dargan Road.

Please feel free to drop in during this time, even for a short while, to hear directly from our Global Partner in DR Congo.
