Association of Christian Counsellors hosts evenings on topic of addiction

Speaker Alex Bradley.The Association of Christian Counsellors is hosting a series of evenings on the topic of The Meaning of Addiction.

These evenings are for counsellors, pastors, ministers, youth leaders, pastoral visitors and all who need to work with addiction, or be able to recognise it

The speaker is Alex Bradley,a Senior Accredited BACP Counsellor/Psychotherapist and IACP Counselling Supervisor who has worked as a therapist in the North West of Ireland since 1993. He is also a NLP practitioner (INLPTA) with specific interest and experience in helping clients overcome addictions.

Themes of the first evening,

• Defining the term “Addiction”

• Assessment

• Models of recovery

• The disease concept

• Treatments

 

Themes of the second evening,

• The “First Steps” into Recovery

• Children of Addicts

• Stinking Thinking

• Types of Addiction

• Relapse Prevention

 

These sessions will be run in two different locations. The will take place from 7.30–9.30pm in Carnmoney Presbyterian Church 258 Carnmoney Road, Newtownabbey, on October 6 and 13, and in Faughanvale Community Project, The Vale Centre, Greysteel, Co Londonderry, on October 7 and 14.
