Information Day on Pioneer Ministry Training and Church Planting

Bishop Alan Abernethy, Rev Ric Thopre (speaker), Trevor Douglas and Rev Barry Forde.The Rev Ric Thorpe from Holy Trinity Brompton/ St Mellitus College was guest speaker at an information Day on Pioneer Ministry Training and Church Planting.

The event took place in the parish hall at St Peter’s Church, Antrim Road, Belfast, on May 8.

Ric and his wife Louie led a church plant to St Paul’s Shadwell in London’s East End in 2005. St Paul’s Shadwell itself planted three further Anglican churches, all in urban priority areas in East London.

Ric Thorpe addresses the training session.Ric has a wider role as the Bishop of London’s Advisor for Church Planting and Tutor in Church Planting at St Mellitus College, helping church leaders around London and the UK in the preparation and early phases of church planting. He also coordinates an informal network of some 40 churches planted from or closely associated with Holy Trinity Brompton.

The Rev Barry Forde, chair of Connor’s Vision Strategy Team, welcomed Ric to the lunchtime training event in St Peter’s, and following his two hour talk thanks were extended to Ric by Connor Diocesan Parish Development Officer Trevor Douglas.
