This picturesque village is situated a few miles along the coast from Larne and in 2012 the village school received approval for an extension to its existing building.

The Rev Jim Caldwell, Curate of St John’s Glynn and a school governor, proposed that the governors, teachers, parents and friends of the school should work together to raise additional funds to furnish the new extension.

To this end, Jim invited the community to walk or run in the Larne Half Marathon.

Jim said afterwards: “The 13.5 mile journey proved to be an immensely challenging and rewarding experience. The fundraiser provided the opportunity to bring people together, to build connections and form friendships between church, governors, teachers and parents.

“Together the group raised well over £1,000 of additional funds to furnish the new extension.”
