Love for Life hosts relationships event in Coleraine

Friday October 18th 2013

Love for Live Chief Executive Judith Cairns.Love for Life is hosting an event to help parents, leaders and clergy to talk with confidence to young people about relationships and sex.

‘Relationships on the Road’ will take place at the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine, on Tuesday October 22 starting at 7.30pm.

Love for Life Chief Executive, Judith Cairns, said: “Never before has there been such relentless pressure on our young people to be sexually active. We want parents and the wider church to reclaim their influence in the lives of young people and talk openly about issues of relationships and sex.”

The evening, which will be hosted by Love for Life Director, Helen Clarke, provides an opportunity to learn more about the changing world that young people are growing up in, share experiences with other parents and look at some of the practical steps that can be taken to protect and inform young people.

The evening which begins at 7.30pm will also include the launch of the Love for Life’s latest resource for parents, ‘Hashtags and Hormones–a guide for parents.’

“Eighty six per cent of teenagers recently said that their parents remained their greatest influence,” said Judith. “Let’s celebrate that and ensure that we are informed to talk with relevance and skill about issues that really matter to them. Why not gather a group of parents together and join the Love for Life team as they strive towards the vision of encouraging every young person to have a healthy respect for themselves, relationships and sex?”

Admission on the night is free. For further information about the event or the work of Love for Life visit www.loveforlife.org.uk
