Prayer requested for stability in South Sudan

Sunday December 22nd 2013

CMS Ireland are urging prayer for South Sudan following the coup attempt in the capital Juba and subsequent reports of violence erupting in some areas.

South Sudanese church leaders are urging political leaders and the nation to choose a path of reconciliation rather than of violence (see letter). They are offering to be mediators and need our prayers.

A team from Connor Diocese is scheduled to visit our partner diocese of Yei in South Sudan during January. CMSI, who are facilitating the trip, are monitoring the situation before a decison on travel to South Sudan will be taken.
