St Paul’s Lisburn celebrates 50th anniversary

Picture: Norman Briggs.The Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Margaret Tolerton, and the Hon Jeffrey Donaldson MP were among special guests at a service held in St Paul’s Parish Church, Lisburn, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the consecration of the church.

During the service both brought greetings from the community and greetings were also sent from Christ Church Parish, Lisburn, out of which St Paul’s grew in the early 1960s, by the rector of Christ Church, the Rev Paul Dundas.

Picture: Norman Briggs.The service was attended by young and old alike with past parishioners returning to help celebrate this special occasion. The service was led by the rector, the Rev Canon James Carson, and the sermon was preached by the Bishop of Connor the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy who also dedicated a new plaque in the church in honour of the day.

The congregation was treated to refreshments in the church hall afterwards.
