St Nicholas MU members welcome Kenyan visitors

Bishop Stephen and Mama Rael admire the quilts they were shown by Mollie Hall.Members of the Mothers’ Union at St Nicholas Parish Church, Lisburn Road, Belfast, welcomed two visitors from the Diocese of Kitale in northern Kenya on February 18.

Bishop Stephen Kewasis was joined by Mama Rael Kewasis, a member of the International Council of MU.

Among those welcoming them at St Nicholas were Connor President Valerie Ash and other trustees. Bishop Stephen and Mama Rael are on a short visit to Ireland.

They were given a demonstration of quilting by St Nicholas parishioner, Mrs Mollie Hall, in the MU meeting hall at the church. Mollie presented Mama Rael with a quilted representing a verse in Ecclesiastes … a time for joy…

Mama Rael spoke of the desperate need for education among the people in their Diocese where illiteracy in the community is more than 70 per cent.
