Praise, prayer and fun at For Our Children Service

Monday June 30th 2014

Gathering for the For Our Children service in St Anne's Cathedral.Praise, prayer and fun were the order of the day on June 29 at For Our Children, a Service of Thanksgiving held in the Chapel of Unity at Belfast Cathedral.

The purpose of the service was to meet up with the families who have had their children baptised at St Anne’s over the last five years and to give thanks for all of our children.

Grandparents, parents and children all came along and joined enthusiastically in the singing and activities. Midway through the service Jill Hamilton, the Diocese of Connor’s Children’s Project Development Officer took the children downstairs, giving the adults space to reflect and pray.

Canon Denise Acheson chats with families at the special thanksgiving service for children baptised in St Anne's Cathedral in the last five years. The service closed on an active note as everyone sang the lively chorus ‘Jesus’ love is very wonderful!’ before sharing a delicious lunch which was prepared by Esther, Gillian, Cameron and Helen.

It is hoped that these services will be held on a regular basis – those who came said they will bring along their friends the next time!

The service was organised by the Rev Canon Denise Acheson.
