Current lockdown restrictions mean that for the first time since its development began in February last year, all work has had to come to a complete halt at the community garden project in Glencairn.
But now Church Army Evangelist Stephen Whitten, from the North Belfast Centre of Mission, has found a way of utilising the garden to continue to connect with the community and all those who have helped in its development to date – a video message recorded in the heart of the garden!
The Glencairn Community Garden is an initiative by Stephen and the Rev Adrian Bell, Ordained Local Minister serving in Glencairn and Whiterock, to provide an open space to benefit the local community.
“We didn’t want the space to just sit there and go to waste, so we have started to do short weekly reflections filmed from the garden throughout February,” Stephen said.
“One of the ways we hope the garden will help people with is with mental health, and the reflections will look at a small portion of Scripture, and think through how this relates to good mental health practices today.
“Hopefully it isn’t too long before we can resume work on the site and get people down and involved again!”
The reflections will be posted on the Connect Base Facebook page and you can tune into Stephen’s first reflection HERE.
